Fuel Cost does not collect any information that identifies you. It does collect a small number of anonymous, aggregate usage events to help us understand which features people use.
Everything you enter is stored only on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
If you use Drives, Fuel Cost records the route of each drive with your phone’s location service. This happens only after you start a drive, or after you turn on automatic detection in Drive settings, and you can turn it off at any time. If you allow location “Always”, recording can continue while the app is closed, and your phone shows an indicator or notification while it does.
Routes are stored only on your phone. They are never uploaded, shared or sold, and the anonymous usage events described below never include coordinates, addresses or routes — only coarse ranges such as “a drive of 5 to 10 miles”. Delete one drive, or all of them, in the app, and they are gone. Deleting the app removes them too.
The map on the drive screen is drawn by Google Maps, which receives the map area your screen is showing in order to fetch map tiles, under Google’s own privacy policy. Your recorded route is drawn on top of the map on your phone and is not sent to Google.
The app sends a handful of anonymous product-usage events -- for example, that the app was opened, that the free feature was used, or that the purchase screen was shown or completed. These events carry no name, email, account, device identifier, or advertising identifier, and cannot be traced back to you. We use them only in aggregate, to see how many people use each part of the app.
Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device. The anonymous usage events we've already received cannot be linked back to you, so there is nothing to look up by identity.
If you buy anything in the app, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
The app collects no data that identifies anyone, including children under 13.
